Single microlot
In 1990, the Gonzalez family purchased the Hacienda El Cafetal plantation.
The Galapagos Islands enjoy a microclimate unique on the planet. The Humboldt Current, the intense equatorial sun, and the dramatic climate change that occurs with increasing altitude are examples of the components that contribute to this very distinctive microclimate.
Small rivers fed by El Junco (a volcanic crater lake) flow gently down the rocky slopes on the island's south side. This mineral-rich spring water keeps the volcanic soil moist and fertile, ideal for growing coffee.
The coffee trees at the Hacienda El Cafetal plantation are organically grown and benefit from the island's exceptional microclimate. The coffee beans are hand-picked, sun-dried, and then washed.
Today, we are fortunate to offer you this truly remarkable coffee thanks to the dedication and hard work of the Gonzalez family.
